At the table with Margot (and Katarina, Markus, Lara-Joy and Markus)
“If I had to live longer,
I would have to buy a bigger table.”
(Margot)
In the production »Ibsen Gespenster«, the Markus&Markus theater collective portrayed Margot, an 81-year-old woman who planned her own death with a Swiss euthanasia organization. The collective accompanied her in the last weeks of her life.
Before and after the day’s excursions, conversations and errands, there was something to eat for refreshment. Basically, the time could also be described as a big meal that was repeatedly interrupted by certain necessities. The topics ranged from spicy mustard to concrete planning for the last days of life.
The collective now invites you to this dinner table. On two days, there will be hearty suppers, cakes, crank cheese, celery salad and other dishes that have been served up. The food will be shown as a video installation in a continuous loop. A warm invitation to the table with Margot! For a minute, an evening meal or the full program (5 hours). To a Dinner for One, where the lady of the table has already passed away and yet is the hostess of a celebration of life.
Markus&Markus theatre collective is working together since 2010, consisting of Lara-Joy Bues, Katarina Eckold, Markus Schäfer and Markus Schmans. Together, the collective stands for an original form of political theatre: They portray protagonists through whom the treated topic moves closer to the audience. The work is characterized by intensive research that is captured on camera and in this way brought on stage.
