Symbiotic processes, queer entanglements were what gave rise to all of us: Me, you, the dust mite in the corner, the trees outside the house – we’re not just related, all larger creatures are hybrids of different bacteria.
Bacteria are our ancestors, they live around, on and in us. In »Holobiontinnen« two performers make contact with their microbial co-world. Their access to the microcosm is very personal as well as mediated by sensors and software. A space between cult site and laboratory emerges, in which humans and bacteria perform together. The boundary between actual contact and human projections becomes fluid. The audience becomes involved and part of a network of microbes, humans and machines.
Eva Hintermaier / Simon Kalus are a transdisciplinary team at the intersection of performance, literature and installation. They are interested in human-nature relationships and the intertwining of biological and aesthetic phenomena.

Accompanying the performances are tactile tours aimed at visually impaired people. They are also open to the public. The tactile tours make it possible to get to know the stage space, the equipment and the performers in advance. The tours are led by Sebastian Schulze and Simon Kalus. The meeting point is always 75 mins before the performance in the foyer.
