Based on biographical interviews with children from Leipzig, Zurich, Duisburg and Berlin, vorschlag:hammer is developing a production. The children talk (about) themselves and their lives – sometimes predictable, sometimes surprising, sometimes unadapted. The texts are spoken and acted by adults. The result is a polyphonic and idiosyncratic picture of small biographies in which fiction and reality, past and future seem to dissolve into the present. In the negotiation between the adult perspective and the children’s texts, a level of play emerges that repeatedly defies apparent biographical logic and its temporality. The experience of children in an ageing society is thus questioned in a multi-layered and open way. A state between reflecting and being, listening and playing, wanting to know and knowing better.
With a keen sense for the small moments, vorschlag:hammer explores the perspectives of these children – observations from everyday life that fan out a panorama of childhoods in 2025. An evening that tries to take children seriously and give them their own perspective.
vorschlag:hammer have been developing theater productions as a collective since 2009. In recent years, their performative narrative theater has opened up to a wide variety of aesthetic strategies, to visual-atmospheric or body-oriented works. They freely adapt existing material or develop research-based productions on ever new topics.
